How To

Make a Bookmarker Display

Bookmarkers are a big seller for me at anime conventions. I make mine by printing them on cardstock and then laminating them. Whether you decide to have your bookmarkers printed for you or make them yourself, I’ll show you how you make a display for them.

I use wire cubes for my table, stacking them up on each side on the table. I was at a convention back in April, which I arrived about a half-hour early. This gave me very little time to set up and hanging up a few dozen bookmakers individually was time-consuming. I thought to myself, “Nope, never going through this again!”. I wanted to make a display that I could slap on my table and would be able to rearrange all of my bookmakers as needed. These are also super easy and inexpensive to make!

Materials:

To make the displays hang:

Step 1: Get your Supplies

I bought these canvases a long time ago to make pretty paintings but never used them. Instead, I found these were perfect to make my display with.

Step 2: Get your Velcro Dots

I like to stick the front and back of the velcro together, put on the bookmarker and then stick it on the board where you want it to go.

Step 3: Stick your Bookmarkers on the Board

Once you got all of your bookmarkers set up, it should look like the image below. You can rearrange them however you want! The velcro I found off of amazon and stick to the board really well… and it’s cheap!

I like that the bookmarkers stick out a little from the thickness of the velcro.

Step 4: Make your Display Hang

If you want a different color, you can totally cover it with colored paper or cloth. I didn’t bother so I left the canvas plain white. I did want to put some frame hooks on the boards so I can hang them on my wire cubes.

I flattened the bottom part of the hooks with jewelry pliers and broke the bottom half off by bending it back and forth.

Next, stick the hooks on the board. I like to use Beacon’s 3-in-1 Advanced Craft Glue on the back of the hook before you stick it on the board. Grab a thumbtack and attach it to the board.

Do this for both sides of the canvas panel. Make sure they are even so that they hang nicely on your cubes!

And you’re done!
